One tough little 9 month old!

It is so amazing that Kayla is already 9 months old! She is so on the move to being a full fledged toddler. She has been pulling herself up for awhile, but now is standing up in the middle of the room with no help, and also standing and playing with things. She has discovered that there is more house than just the living room. We have baby gates to keep her out of the kitchen and we keep all the bedroom doors and bathrooms closed. She also has noticed we have a backyard and gets very upset when Austin and Autumn go out there without her. She has 5 teeth and loves to eat things-bummer that her allergies keep her form eating a lot of things. Some of her favorites things are hot dogs, apple wagon wheels, and Kix!

It is so much fun to see her play and discover new things. We had Mitch over one night and he showed her the dvds and how they come off the shelf-hilarious watching them clear those shelves like little pros! The grins and laughter out of those to was so stinkin cute! And it is great how well they play together-love having a cousin close in age!!

She is obsessed with baths and if you start to get her ready for one she giggles and wiggles with excitement!

Now my plan was to get some cute 9 month studio shots of Kayla done-but we hit a major problem with that plan. Mitch had his 1st birthday party at a park-it was totally awesome and the kids had a blast. She really loved the bounce house!

And loved posing with the cool firefighter stuff!

But, I let Kayla play in the grass for 20 minutes and her little body went berserk! Thank heavens it was cold that day so she was in overalls with shoes and socks on-so while crawling around and playing she got a red rash in-between her fingers and on her face from touching it with her hands. Sunday there was a red rash only between her fingers and on her face. On Monday she had blisters on her left hand. Tuesday all her fingers had blisters and her face!


I took her to the doctors and after a lot of discussion and guesswork we decided it was most likely either a really bad grass allergy or a reaction to something on the grass. There isn't anything we could put on the blisters because of the risk of oral ingestion so we have been letting them run their own course. Which has been really hard to watch. The blisters all popped and scabbed over and are now starting to fall of and leave behind new pink skin. It has been really hard on us-but through it all she has stayed her happy self-she is amazing.


Since I haven't wanted to hurt her I haven't been able to wipe her hands and face off when she is done eating. So, she has been getting quick rinse off sessions in the kitchen sink! She loves it and gets so excited whenever she hears the water turn on.

Through all this she has been a very happy girl! I couldn't handle the horrible blisters and scabs, but it hasn't slowed her a bit!

She even had 3 vials of blood drawn for allergy testing and was more interested in the armband they tied on her than in actually crying because of the pain from the needle! We got the results back and there is no grass allergy-hallelujah!! We will be avoiding public park grass due to chemicals and fertilizer, but at least she can play on our lawn! We learned a few more foods that she can have, and beyond the horrible hand and face problem she is growing rather well.

At her 9 month check-up she weighs 17 lbs. and measures 27 inches. She talks a lot, and makes tons of noises! She officially said "Mama" first on March 1st and said "Dada" on March 10th! Paul says she is a total mama's girl. She sleeps through the night 7pm-7am, and wakes up babbling happily and greets you with a big smile when you come in to get her. She has definite sounds for what she wants: go out to her toys, more of something, down, up, and come here!

We sure love this little girl and enjoy watching her grow! Everyday is something new and she sure makes life fun for us all!
